Dick Van Dyke Accepts Life Achievement Award At 'Screen Actors Guild Awards' With Humility, Joy (VIDEO)

Dick Van Dyke Accepts SAG Life Achievement Award

After 70 years in the business, as he cited during his speech, Dick Van Dyke was jubilant upon accepting the Life Achievement Award at "The 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards." The 87-year old screen legend nimbly darted onto the stage with an infectious smile beaming across the room.

"Aren’t we lucky to have found a line of work that doesn’t require growing up? I love that," he marveled.

While the award was honoring Van Dyke's career and achievements as an actor, he had perhaps even more praise and awe for the assembled talent in front of him. "I’m looking at the greatest generation of actors in the history of acting. You've all lifted the art, I don’t know, to another place now," he said.

It was a quick, humble and honored speech. This was clearly a man still in his prime and having the time of his life. The Hollywood Reporter loved that he kept his speech light and fun, with plenty of praise for his peers.
