Russell Westbrook Tantrum: OKC All-Star Calls Outburst 'A Little Miscommunication' (VIDEO)

Everything was going well for Oklahoma City on Thursday night against Memphis. The Thunder cruised to a 58-34 lead at halftime and showed no signs letting up after the intermission. That's what made Russell Westbrook's tantrum in the third quarter so strange.

The All-Star point guard was called for a five-second violation as he tried to post up his defender and appeared to get upset with teammate Thabo Sefolosha. Head coach Scott Brooks sat Westbrook down on the bench, and that's when he lost it.

Westbrook refused to join a huddle during a timeout. He flipped his chair over and started walking toward the locker room, followed by assistant coach Maurice Cheeks and a security guard. He then came back out with a towel on his head.

After Oklahoma City's blowout victory, Westbrook failed to provide a solid explanation when asked about the incident by TNT's Craig Sager.

"Nothing, just a little miscommunication," Westbrook said softly. When Sager asked if he needs to control his temper more at times, Westbrook responded, "I'll control it like a man. Like I did."

Brooks downplayed the incident, saying he took Westbrook out because "we needed to calm down," per USA Today.

Kevin Durant brushed off the outburst as well, calling it a "disagreement."

"This is the game of basketball," said Durant, via the Associated Press. "You have so many different emotions on one team. You're going to have disagreements. It wasn't the first. It's not going to be the last."
