In its slick Super Bowl commercial, Blackberry opted for spectacle over specifics.

Introducing Super Bowl viewers to the new Z10, Blackberry managed to establish only that the device isn't a magic wand because, as they say, "in 30 seconds it's quicker to show you what it can't do."

While the colored smoke, elephant legs, spontaneous combustion and rubber ducky deluge made for an interesting 30-second commercial it remains to be seen if it will generate any interest Blackberry's latest offering. For what it's worth, one NFL player tuned into Super Bowl XLVII seemed skeptical.

As the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens battled for the right to lift the Lombardi Trophy, Super Bowl advertisers competed for another prize: your attention. Each time that CBS cut away from Super Bowl XLVII to pay the bills (or because the lights went out), another group of blockbuster commercials and movie trailers were unveiled (although many had been teased). While memorable Super Bowl commercials like Apple's '1984' and Snickers' spot that featured Betty White will be remembered so many more are soon forgotten or, even worse, ridiculed as super fails.
