'Roots' Film To Be Highlighted During Special SirusXM Radio Broadcast

'Roots' Revisited In Upcoming SirusXM Special

With Black History Month underway, SirusXM Radio announced a special airing of its Town Hall series this week that will pay homage to Alex Haley's groundbreaking television mini-series, “Roots.”

The special hour-long broadcast, which will be hosted by civil rights activist Joe Madison, will feature stars from the film including LeVar Burton, Leslie Uggams, Louis Gossett, Jr. and Ben Vereen, as they cover an array of topics dealing with the motion picture.

“Roots made television history when it originally aired in 1977, and its cultural impact and influence remain powerful today,” Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM's President and Chief Content Officer, said in a press release.

“We are excited to have members of the original cast of "Roots" in our studios with a live audience. Joe Madison’s dedication to civil rights and social issues and his ability to put history into context for a wide audience of all people makes him the ideal host for this special event.”

“SiriusXM’s Roots Town Hall” will air live on February 5 at 2pm EST on The Power channel, 128.
