Watch out, Facebook could soon be watching you ... even more than it already is.

Facebook is reportedly planning to release a tracking app that will help users find friends nearby, two people with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg. The app would run even while Facebook is not being used on one's phone, allowing Facebook to track users' whereabouts and sell ads based on that information.

In an email to HuffPost about the potential app, Facebook said the company does not "comment on rumors or speculation."

People on Twitter seem to be unhappy about the app:

This would be Facebook's second attempt at a GPS-based app. The first time the company tried one, it was 2012 and the app was called "Find Friends Nearby." The feature was released without fanfare and was quickly removed.

Apple also tried to bring nearby users together with its "Find my Friends" app in 2011, and the result was unsuccessful.

Think you didn't sign on for this? You did. Facebook's Data Use Policy states that "we may get your GPS or other location information so we can tell you if any of your friends are nearby." Bloomberg reported that the app is expected for release in mid-March.
