Frozen Fist Of Detroit Sculpture Reveals How Cold It Is In The D (PHOTO)

LOOK: Frozen Fist Is So Cold In The D

Though groundhog Punxsutawney Phil's recent failure to see his shadow had us hoping for a shortened winter, Michiganders know not to raise their expectations when it comes to the weather. A storm is slated to hit Southeast Michigan overnight, with possible snowfall up to nine inches in some parts of the state.

While we brace ourselves for another cold night in the D, we've shared a few images that convey this chilly city in a totally unique way. Photographer Dan Foley recently published these shots of Detroit's downtown fixtures feeling the effects of the ice and snow. Even the "Monument to Joe Louis" sculpture, an 8,000 lb. bronze fist honoring the legendary boxer that hangs over Woodward Avenue, couldn't fight off the chill.

And the Spirit of Detroit sculpture, one of the city's most recognizable landmarks, is caught looking like it has a runny nose.
