John Brennan Defends Not Trying To Stop Waterboarding, Torture

WASHINGTON -- John Brennan, President Barack Obama's nominee to head up the CIA, told senators Thursday he "had some visibility" into the "enhanced interrogation" techniques, such as waterboarding, authorized by the Bush administration.

Many people have considered the measures to be torture. Brennan said that while he expressed his opinion that such techniques were wrong, he never tried to stop them, because he was not closely involved in the program.
