14-Year-Old Charged As An Adult For Death Of Baby Sister

A 14-year-old has been charged as an adult in the death of his 7-month old sister, who was found unresponsive inside a White Oak apartment Friday, according to Montgomery County police.

Police said Larissa Yanes was found unresponsive by her mother, who went to work Thursday night, leaving the infant with her bother, 14-year-old Jonathan Aguiluc.

After Gloria Yanes left for work at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, police said Aguiluc beat his sister when she started to cry, and covered her mouth and nose with his hands until she stopped. He left her in her car seat inside the apartment in the 11600 block of Lockwood Drive.

When his mother returned home the following morning, the girl was sleeping, but when Yanes went to feed her later, police said the child was unresponsive. The infant later died at Holy Cross Hospital.

Aguiluc is charged as an adult with first degree murder and is being held without bond. Fourteen is the youngest a teenager can be charged as an adult in violent or sexual crimes. In Baltimore County last week, 15-year-old Robert W. Gladden Jr. who has been charged as an adult with attempted first-degree murder, tried unsuccessfully in court to have his case moved to juvenile court. The teen is charged in the Perry Hall High School shooting in August.
