With the arrival of new baby boy Milan everything looked like a happy story for fans of Shakira and Gerard Piqué . That is until yesterday when a photo of the new parents driving without the child in a car seat emerged.

On Sunday the Colombian pop star tweeted a pic in which she is holding the boy in a baby carrier with his daddy's team colors and a number three while enjoying a FC Barcelona soccer game. This was the baby’s first outing since his birth on January 22nd.

However, fans were quickly disappointed when a picture showing the couple leaving the Spanish soccer stadium in their car, but without securing the life of their newborn was shared through social media. Shakira was seen driving, while Piqué carried what looked to be the baby in his lap in the front seat.

Many turned to social media platforms to show their disapproval of the way the famous singer and athlete weren't taking good care of their child, and accusing them of being negligent parents.

Although the image seems to be legitimate, it is yet unknown if the father was using a seat belt or if the baby was in fact out of the car seat as many have speculated.

As in the United States, Spanish laws establishes children, especially babies, should always be secured in a car seat until turning of age (depending on state) to be allowed in the car's front area.

Born in Barcelon, Spain, Milan is the couple's first son. His name "means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification," Shakira said in a press release.
