Single Miami Men Outnumber Miami Women, According To Trulia

Breaking: Our City Is Dripping With Single Men

There may be good reason for all those Ladies Nights at Miami clubs.

It turns out South Florida ranks in the top ten metro areas where single men outnumber women, according to a trends report by real estate site Trulia.

Miami comes in seventh with a male-to-female ratio of 1.2.

Another Florida metro area -- Palm Bay in Brevard County -- ranks even higher with a ratio of 1.26.

Jed Kolko, Trulia's Chief Economist, crunched the statistics by looking at the demographics for women and men living alone and subtracted estimates of the cities' gay and lesbian population in order to hone in on heterosexual pairing potential.

He also filtered out those over 65, he says, as the genders' differing life expectancies skew results. "Just ask my grandfather, who was very popular in the Miami Beach coffee shop scene back in the day," Kolko adds.

While Florida women have the numbers on their side when it comes to bagging a mate, the prognosis isn't so good for that relationship in the end. Miami recently ranked as the fourth least faithful city in the U.S., according to AshleyMadsion.com.
