'Southland' Premiere: Chad Michael Murray Brings A Crew Cut And Mustache To The Show (VIDEO)

'Southland' Premiere: Chad Michael Murray's 'Stache

"Southland" returned for its fifth season with another gritty look at a day in the life of Los Angeles' finest. This season, the gang was joined by Chad Michael Murray ("One Tree Hill") and he brought with him a classic cop-mustache. He also got the responsibility of taking a taser to a stripper who got a little too rowdy and started shooting into the sky.

For now, he's just a recurring character on the show, but he brings a youthful energy to the role. He also fit in seamlessly with an ensemble that continues to turn in stellar work on one of television's most underappreciated hours.

The premiere spent plenty of time with the entire cast. Viewers could relate to Adams struggling to balance single motherhood and being a detective. That she can juggle both -- even with the help of her mother -- is remarkable, though she is clearly frazzled and exhausted. Will the stress affect her job performance?

Sammy could be in for an interesting arc as a seed of doubt was planted in him that perhaps Tammi's kid isn't his after all. As seen in this episode -- where she tried to push him to hit her on camera -- Tammi appears to be capable of the level of deceit necessary to convince him the child was his. He did, after all, get a DNA test. Did she fake the results call?

Find out as the tension continues to rise on "Southland," Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EST on TNT.
