While most of us only hope to be fortunate enough to retire once, on his 50th birthday, basketball legend Michael Jordan is already amid his third retirement.

Jordan first retired from his extraordinarily successful career as a basketball player in 1993 to give baseball a try. He returned to the NBA in 1995, helping to lead the Chicago Bulls to championships in 1996, 1997, and 1998. Although he retired again in 1998, he returned to the league in 2001, playing for two more years before announcing his final retirement from basketball in 2003.

Just like for many baby boomers, retirement does not mean that Jordan isn’t busy pursuing other passions. Since retiring, he has immersed himself in various business projects and philanthropies.

In honor of Michael Jordan’s 50th birthday today, we are taking a look at some of his retirement ventures since 2003.
