Travis Barker Plane Crash: Drummer Admits He's Still Afraid To Fly, Won't Join Blink 182 For Australia Tour

Travis Barker Admits He's Afraid To Fly Since 2008 Plane Crash

Travis Barker won't be joining his Blink 182 bandmates on their Australian tour.

The 37-year-old drummer admits he's too afraid to fly since he survived the horrific Sept. 2008 plane crash that claimed the lives of four passengers, including his friend and assistant Chris Baker and security guard Che Still.

In a Facebook post, Barker writes:

I'm sorry to announce i won't be joining Blink-182 on this Australian tour. I still haven't gotten over the horrific events that took place the last time i flew when my plane crashed and 4 people were killed, two being my best friends. I gave the band my blessing to take another drummer if they still wanted to do the tour without me. I hope to come to Australia again some day perhaps by ship if need be. Unfortunately, there wasn't a boat that worked with the schedule this time around. Once again I'm sorry to all the fans.

Barker hasn't flown again since the accident, opting to rely on sea travel to get around. He recently took an ocean liner all the way to the U.K., so that he could take part in the band's European tour.

The father-of-two, who has a son Landon, 9, and daughter Alabama, 6, with ex-wife Shanna Moakler, was reportedly set to join Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge Down Under, but it appears his phobia was too much to bear.
