Mindy McCready News: Singer's Mother Speaks Out, More Details Revealed

Three days after the death of her daughter, Mindy McCready's mother is speaking out for the first time.

“I wish I could hold her in my arms again,” Gayle Inge, McCready's mom, told Celebuzz. “I will never get over this.”

Inge revealed the family is planning a memorial service for Feb. 26, if preparations are ready by then. In the meantime, they are looking for ways to pick up the pieces following McCready's apparent suicide at 37 years old.

“We break down and tell stories about her and laugh and talk about her and then break down again,” Inge said. “We don’t know how to handle this or know what to do. We take it one day at a time.”

People magazine released an excerpt from an e-mail McCready sent to Danno Hanks, a private investigator and friend of the country singer. In the e-mail, McCready discussed her desire to get her children back after they were placed in foster care and she was ordered to enter rehab in conjunction with her alcohol and prescription-drug abuse.

"The most important thing are my babies must come home," she wrote to Hanks.

People reports that, just days before her suicide, McCready was served with court documents ordering that her children move in with her estranged mother. McCready had two sons, 6-year-old Zander and 10-month-old Zayne.

Following McCready's death, police discovered filth and desecration in the singer's home. Bottles full of prescription pills were left on the nightstand and in the bathroom, food was left out and dog feces littered the home. McCready reportedly shot her dog before taking her own life.

Billy McKnight, McCready's ex-boyfriend and Zander's father, told The Associated Press that the singer left rehab too soon.
