Stars Dazzle At The ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood Awards

Pre-Oscar parties are officially in full swing and our favorite soirée of the season took place Thursday afternoon -- the ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood Awards.

The 6th annual event was summed up best by actress Tracee Ellis Ross who said, "It's a beautiful afternoon where we're celebrating each other and giving praise to women that don't always get praised. And it's exciting--we get to see all our friends."

Indeed it was. Tracee was joined at the luncheon by virtually every black star in Hollywood and was even reunited with her cast members from "Girlfriends."

While the event serves to acknowledge the talent and accomplishments of African-American trailblazers in the film and TV industry, it's also a chance for us to dole out some sartorial praise.

Gabrielle Union, who was presented with the Fierce & Fearless award, stepped out in a gorgeous green vintage Versace dress, an Oroton clutch and Forevermark diamonds for the occasion. The sleeveless mini dress showed off the 40-year-old actress' fabulous legs and we loved her full curly mane.

Another one of the afternoon's honorees was adorable, per usual. Quvenzhané Wallis started off her big Oscars weekend in a pink-and-white floral printed frock while carrying one of her beloved puppy purses. We can't wait to see what the 9-year-old star will be wearing on Sunday. Word on the street is that it might be another pink number.

Oprah Winfrey, who picked up the Power award, kept it simple in a crisp white blouse and black pencil skirt, allowing her dates for the event -- students from her leadership school in South Africa --to shine. Although, the media maven did turn heads rocking her big natural hair.

Legendary actress Diahann Caroll, supermodel Naomi Campbell and singer Kelly Rowland were also style standouts at the star-studded luncheon.

Check out those ladies and all the fabulous celebs that were on hand for the 6th annual ESSENCE Women in Hollywood Awards in the slideshow below. Who do you think is best-dressed?
