Michael Rivera Arrested For Vandalism As Mother Jenni Rivera Honored At Premio Lo Nuestro

Jenni Rivera's Son Arrested

This may not be the best way to honor Jenni Rivera’s legacy.

The late Mexican American pop star’s son, Michael Marin Rivera, was arrested for vandalism in Miami on Thursday, the same night his mother was honored with a tribute at Premio Lo Nuestro in the same city.

It wasn’t clear from initial reports what property Rivera had allegedly vandalized.

The legal name of the famous singer’s son is Trinidad Angelo Marin, according to TMZ.

Jenni Rivera won all five Premio Lo Nuestro awards she was nominated for Thursday night, including “Best Female Pop Singer” and “Premio Lo Nuestro Artist.”

Artists including singers Olga Tañón and Shaila Durcal moved Premio Lo Nuestro’s audience with an emotional tribute to Jenni Rivera, which closed with a tearful rendition of “Te Extrañaré” (“I’ll Miss You”) performed by Rivera’s brother Lupillo.

Jenni Rivera died in a plane crash on Dec. 9 while traveling from the northern Mexican city of Monterrey to Toluca, along with six other people.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this post incorrectly stated that Michael Rivera was charged with vandalism. In fact, he was charged with criminal mischief in connection with alleged acts of vandalism.
