It may never be more accurate to say something is funny because it's true...

This week, "Portlandia" parodies the new parent dilemma of wanting an instruction manual to tell you how to get the baby giggle, coo and sleep instead of crying and waking up at 3 a.m. But as we all know (all too well), parenting books offer approximately 100,000 conflicting viewpoints. This situation sometimes leads to marital discord -- see the 20-second mark when Carrie Brownstein's character asks her husband, "Ryan, did you actually read the book?" -- and a lot of pretending to be someone you are not, all for the good of your child, ie. her amazing French parenting outfit.

So, yes, we may be missing the point entirely, but are going to go ahead and say everyone should be a "Portlandia" parent as the toddler's piece of advice at the end of this clip are words to live by.
