Robert De Niro's First Oscars: See How The Actor Has Changed

Posted: Updated:

Robert De Niro is a legendary actor who heads into Sunday's Academy Awards with two Oscars already under his belt.

He hoisted his first statuette in 1975 for "The Godfather, Part II." De Niro won Best Supporting Actor for his gripping turn as Vito Corleone. Remember this?

Just half a decade later, De Niro once again found himself giving an acceptance speech at the Oscars. This time, he had upgraded to Best Actor, awarded for his starring role as Jake LaMotta in 1980's "Raging Bull." The below, timeless, photo was snapped after he won.

Though De Niro was nominated two more times before the millenium turned (in '91 for "Awakenings" and '92 for "Cape Fear"), he batted a solid .000. Cut to this year's Oscars, and Rober Mario De Niro Jr. once again has a shot at Oscar gold.

He's nominated for Best Supporting Actor for "Silver Linings Playbook," a David O. Russell film that's a bit of an actor's favorite (it's the only movie to produce nominations in all four acting categories this year). Quite a bit has happened over the course of De Niro's career (also, in the wider world). Here's a still from the film -- let us know how you think Bobby aged in the comments.
