Secretary of State John Kerry sent well wishes to actor and director Ben Affleck ahead of the 2013 Academy Awards.

Affleck's film "Argo" is nominated and expected to win best picture, the top prize at the Oscars.

Kerry -- who occasionally tweets from the State Department's officials account, signing his posts with "-JK" -- said it's "nice" seeing "our Foreign Service on the big screen":

While Kerry may support "Argo," the movie received criticism from another big political figure. Former President Jimmy Carter told CNN's Piers Morgan that he took issue with the credit Americans get in the film for the Iran hostage rescue.

"Ninety per cent of the contributions to the ideas and consummation of the plan was Canadian, and the movie gives almost full credit to the American CIA," Carter said.
