Glenn Beck Challenged To WWE 'Raw' Appearance

Glenn Beck has a new adversary in the form of the WWE.

The conservative radio host slammed the organization earlier this week over their new Tea Party-inspired villain “Jack Swagger” and his racist manager "Zeb Colter." Beck, along with other conservatives, was offended by the portrayal, which he alleged "demonized" the Tea Party.

"I can take it from a lot of people," he complained. "I can't take it from the stupid wrestling people."

The WWE responded by inviting Beck to appear on "Monday Night Raw" in a statement on Friday. "Beck references WWE as 'stupid wrestling people,' ... WWE is giving Beck the opportunity to address our 14 million weekly viewers and our global fan base, as he believes we are offending our 'conservative' fans with this storyline," the organization said.

Beck turned the challenge down on Friday, saying, "Unfortunately I am currently booked doing anything else.”

"You’re making a villain out of what?" Beck said about the WWE. "Probably 80 percent of your audience who’s tired as it is of being miscast? They’re tired of this... I’m sick and tired of being miscast. I am sick and tired of it. It is lazy at best. And I certainly am not going to give any more time or my money to any organization that is miscasting, is making it harder for me and my family to stand up for what I believe in."

The WWE has explained that the storyline was developed to characterize "Del Rio," a Mexican-American character, as a hero to appeal to the organization's Latino base, which represents 20% of the audience.
