Harlem Shake Gets One More Moment With Nebraska Men's Gymnastics Hard-Bodied Take

Just when everyone but the most out-of-touch joined the call to bury this YouTube dance fad behind the shed of our collective consciousness, members of the University of Nebraska men's gymnastics team took their shirts off and added flips and high bars to the Harlem shake.

Nearly 600,000 viewers have so far said, "Ugh, well ... OK," and watched as one nutty student-athlete interrupted his stretching routine to dance in a Cornhuskers hat. Afterward, the abs come out, and all hell breaks loose.

Viralviralvideos.com, a blog that catalogs trending videos, wrote that the gymnasts' effort stands apart from others for two simple reasons.

"Amazing moves, and rock hard bodies. Frankly, the new video ... would have gone viral regardless of what music was playing," the website says.

Meantime, "Harlem Shake" by Baauer hit Billboard's No. 1 nine months after its release even though the song is rarely played on the radio. It wasn't until fans started to create 30-second videos of themselves dancing to the song that it really took off.

Nebraska's male gymnasts have easily beaten out the video from the Nebraska women's basketball team in overall views and already have a leg-up on other versions. They still have a ways to go, though, until they match the early successes of the Army version and Maryland students' flash-mob take, which combine for more than 37 million views.
