Here's an alternative to making a scrapbook. Artist Jamie Poole put his poetry and love letters to good use, using the heartfelt texts as raw materials for a massive portrait. Poole used notes and poems from his fiancée to create a surprisingly realistic portrayals of himself and his bride to be.
The large-scale artworks turn simple typography into pseudo-brushstrokes, crafting a lifelike portrait that almost appears to be a black-and-white photograph. Poole, who is primarily a landscape painter and art teacher, explained his affinity for working with textual snippets to Junk Culture: "As text is layered the words, lines and phrases are repeated and embedded into the work creating a unifying physicality."
