'Game Of Thrones' Season 3 Ad Campaign Casts Dragon Shadow Over The New York Times

Has 'Game Of Thrones' Given Us The Coolest Ad Campaign Ever?

HBO certainly knows the value of a good tease. As the March 31 premiere date for "Game of Thrones" draws closer, the cable network has slowly been rolling out tantalizing teaser trailers and posters, including a striking image of a dragon's shadow cast on the ground, as if one of Daenerys' "children" is circling above, poised to strike.

The premium network brought that image to the next level on Feb. 25, taking out a double-page ad in The New York Times that featured the dragon silhouette spread across fake articles that hint at plotlines from "Game of Thrones." (A forbidden love affair resulting in an illegitimate child? Sounds familiar!) Animated versions of the image could also be spotted on popular entertainment sites such as The Hollywood Reporter and IMDB, likely to capitalize on the influx of traffic brought in by those curious about Sunday's 2013 Oscar winners.

"Game of Thrones" Season 3 premieres Sunday, March 31 at 9 p.m. EST on HBO.
