Alice Waters On Farmers (VIDEO)

From the series Markers.com, featuring trailblazing women across all fields.

This video is brought to us by Makers.com. Makers is a historic video initiative that features "trailblazing" women and presents their story to the world.

Alice Waters has long been named the pioneer of the locally-grown food movement. Back in the '70s, when opening her restaurant Chez Panisse in California, she made it a point to work directly with small farmers and reject the traditional restaurant practice that relied on industrial food production. With this single decision, Waters reinvented American cuisine.

We're grateful to her for taking this bold move, but more than us, we're sure the farmers feel gratitude to her as well. It turns out that Waters feels that same appreciation to the farmers she works with day in and day out. Watch to video above to see what she has to say.
