Adam Levine is one of "The Voice's" only remaining original coaches -- and he isn't going anywhere because, according to the Maroon 5 frontman, the show has done wonders for his career.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Levine said that it took a bit of convincing for him to join NBC's foray into the singing competition genre that "American Idol" had long monopolized. Ultimately, he said, it was for the good of Maroon 5. "The risk/reward situation was such that we thought it would be better for me to try doing it because the band was, I wouldn't say faltering, but not doing as well at that point as we had wanted to be doing," Levine told THR.

In addition to putting a handsome $10 million to $12 million NBC has given Levine for each cycle of "The Voice," according to THR, the show did end up helping Maroon 5: "Moves Like Jagger," which features Levine's co-coach Christina Aguilera, debuted on the show in June 2011 and was an instant and huge hit. The track became Maroon 5's first Top 10 single since 2007's "Makes Me Wonder" and is among the best-selling singles of all time.

"I loved 'Jagger,'" Levine told Billboard of the song in September 2011. "I was really worried it wasn't going to be big ... It was one of those songs that was definitely a risk; it's a bold statement ... We've never really released a song like that. But it's exciting to do something different, do something new. I'm just happy everyone likes it."

"The Voice" premieres on Monday, March 25 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
