Elizabeth Taylor was one of the biggest film and style icons of the 20th century. Famous for her violet eyes, her silver screen performances and her many marriages, Ms. Taylor was Hollywood's golden girl (although she preferred diamonds).
49 years ago today (on Mar.6), Elizabeth Taylor divorced her fourth husband, American entertainer Eddie Fisher. This 1960 photograph shows the couple in happier times. Liz looks like the perfect '60s wife in a matching gingham suit (belted to define her tiny waist), white gloves and a floppy hat. Her hubby doesn't look half bad either, in sleek white pants and a yellow dress shirt. Who cares if they didn't last? For a moment in time, this was one damn good-looking couple.
