What Are Adults Afraid Of? Age Doesn't Necessarily Cure Fear

Monsters, spiders, mean babysitters –- there are plenty of things to be afraid of when we're younger.

Some of these harmless fears persist even as we get older (does anyone ever really learn to like bugs?). Or worse yet, sometimes we learn to fear something even scarier than what's under our bed (the IRS, anyone?).

Over the weekend we asked readers what makes them want to crawl into bed and pull the covers over their head, even as adults. We have compiled their responses in a slideshow below.
