"Anchorman: The Legend Continues" could include an appearance from another legend. According to Steve Carell, three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep is such a big fan of "Anchorman" that she wants to participate in the new film.

"Meryl Streep told me she was a huge Anchorman fan and she’d love to have a cameo in the sequel," Carell told ShortList.com. "That could be really funny. There are going to be plenty of great cameos in this movie."

"Anchorman 2" is already chockablock with big names: in addition to original cast members Carell, Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate, "The Legend Continues" will also feature appearances from Kristen Wiig, James Marsden and Harrison Ford. The iconic Ford was recently cast as a veteran news anchor, a role that could be similar to the one he played in "Morning Glory."

For more from Carell, head over to ShortList.com. "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" is out in theaters on Dec. 20.

UPDATE:

Carell has since clarified his remarks, telling E!, ""I jokingly said, 'You should be in it. "Meryl said, 'Could you imagine?' And it was just that."
