Melissa McCarthy To Host 'SNL': Reports

Coming Back To 'SNL'?

Melissa McCarthy will reportedly host "Saturday Night Live" on April 6, according to sources speaking to several outlets.

This would be the second time that the "Bridesmaids" and "Identity Thief" star has hosted the show, after a well-regarded stint in October 2011.

The news was first reported by Entertainment Weekly's Popstyle blog when the longtime costume designer for "SNL" let McCarthy's planned hosting leak in an interview. Yesterday, sources confirmed the news to US Weekly, Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter.

As always, "SNL" hosting announcements are not confirmed until they come from official NBC outlets.

The long-running sketch show has faced an atypically high-profile season. The show has always gotten high ratings in its time slot, but amidst the current woes of NBC, it has become the most highly rated show on the entire network. Last week's episode, hosted by Kevin Hart, pulled in a 2.8 in the 18-49 demographic, and next week's episode starring "SNL" favorite Justin Timberlake as both host and musical guest is expected to perform highly.
