Shep Smith On Drones: I Don't Know Why People Aren't Freaking Out (VIDEO)

Shep Smith expressed outrage about the Obama administration's drone program during Thursday's "Studio B."

Smith's show was airing just as the Senate was voting on whether to confirm John Brennan to lead the CIA. It came a day after Sen. Rand Paul's 13-hour filibuster of the nomination, in protest of the drone policy.

Smith first expressed a mixture of incredulity and disgust over Paul's questioning whether or not the government can kill Americans with drones on American soil, calling it a "stupid" issue.

"Who thinks that's possible?" he shouted. "...If that is a question in America today, we're done."

Then, he spoke to the network's Andrew Napolitano, where he suddenly changed tack and said he had meant to be critical of the drone program.

"If we have to ask this question even, then we've gone so far beyond what this document has to say that we really, really need some mirror work," he said. "Nobody freaked out when they killed an American overseas, and I don't know why."

Later, he brought on former New Mexico governor Bill Richardson. Smith denounced the killing of Anwar al-Awlaki, an American citizen, and his 16-year-old son.

"We have a series of facts that, if they don't bother you, OK, bully for you, but when you put them together, to people who like that document the country was founded on, doesn't sound too good," he said. "...They also killed his son, who'd done nothing! Our government sent a missile down, killed a man and killed his son! America!"
