$1 Million Of Marijuana Found At Vandenberg Air Force Base, Camouflaged In A Boat (VIDEO)

It appears that drug smugglers crashed a boat full of at least $1 million worth of marijuana onto the third-largest air force base in the U.S.

The 20-foot aluminum panga boat was found on Southern California's Vandenberg Air Force Base beach Thursday afternoon. The marijuana in the boat was covered in dark-colored trash bags, wrapped up and stacked, and camouflaged with brush, Col. Nina Armagno, 30th Space Wing commander, said in the press conference video above.

Because of the efforts to hide the narcotics, authorities think those involved intended to return -- until realizing they landed on an air force base, the Santa Maria Times reports.

The security threat level at the base was elevated for several hours while all 2,000 of the base's buildings were searched for suspects, Armagno said at the press conference.

No weapons or suspects were found, and authorities believe there is no threat to the base or local community, Armagno said.

The Department of Homeland Security has removed the marijuana and taken over the investigation, the Los Angeles Times reports.
