Kate Middleton's Nose Popular In New York, As Plastic Surgery Requests For It Surge: Report

Kate's Nose Is 'Spring's Hottest Accessory'?

Many New Yorkers are scrambling to the offices of local plastic surgeons to get a new nose: that of British royal and picture-perfect fashionista Kate Middleton.

According to a report by the New York Daily News, Middleton's perky schnoz has become "spring’s hottest accessory" for many New York women -- so much so that many plastic surgeons in the city say they've seen a burgeoning number of requests for the royal nose in recent months.

“A couple of months ago, these women started coming into my office and asking for Kate Middleton’s nose,” Dr. Stephen T. Greenberg, a Manhattan plastic surgeon and author told the Daily News. “It has become so popular that we have made a file of a dozen Kate Middleton pictures to show patients when they come in for their consultation.”

Dr. Daniel Shapiro, an Arizona-based plastic surgeon, told Fox 10 News last month that he had heard rumors of a Middleton-inspired rhinoplasty boom on the East Coast.

"It's kind of in vogue," Shapiro said. "I have friends that are in Manhattan, it is one of the highest percentage procedures now." (Watch the Fox 10 News report on this trend above.)

Jessica Blaier, an NYU student in her early 20s, made headlines earlier this year after she said she spent about $12,000 on plastic surgery to get a nose like Middleton's.

"Every time she smiled it's like, that's what I want -- I want my nose to be like that,'" Blaier, who had the procedure done in Manhattan, told ABC's "Good Morning America" in January.

The obsession with the Duchess of Cambridge's nose is not limited to the United States, however. According to Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group, one of Britain's biggest cosmetic surgery providers, Middleton's nose was the "most-requested celebrity facial feature in 2012."

Earlier this year, the Daily Mail claimed Middleton had "the most desirable nose in Britain," adding that Middleton-inspired rhinoplasty procedures have tripled in 2011.

Carmen Lefevre, a psychologist who specializes in the study of facial attributes, told the Daily Mail that there may be a "hard-wired evolutionary preference" for Middleton's nose.

"The symmetry of Kate’s nose, the angle between her lip and the tip of her nose and the minimal amount of nostril on show, are all near-perfect," Lefevre said.

But experts warn that a desire to have a nose like Middleton's may require a lot more work than people think.

According to Fox 10 News, surgeons have warned coveters of the royal conk that "not every face was made for Kate Middleton's nose, and often patients must have other work done to their chins, cheeks or brows to make the regal beak work for them."
