'Spring Breakers' & Opening Ceremony Team Up For Clothing Line

We've already got "Spring Breakers" fatigue and the movie hasn't even opened yet. But the buzzed-about flick, starring bikini-clad teeny boppers like Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens and a gun-toting James Franco, is about to get even more hype with its very own Opening Ceremony collaboration.

The New York-based retailer is partnering with "Spring Breakers" for a line of "fun-in-the-sun essentials," Women's Wear Daily reports. The line will include sweatpants, beach towels, crop tops and, of course, bikinis (but no fake tattoos and guns-as-accessories, as far as we know).

The designs, which are bound to be bright and slightly NSFW (think pot leaves, the slogan "DTF"), were conceived by Heidi Bivens, "Spring Breakers" costume designer, and artist Todd James a.k.a. REAS.

Surprised that Opening Ceremony, a favorite among the downtown hipster crowd, is teaming up with a Selena Gomez-headlined project? Don't be: The movie is much edgier fare than most people realize, with enough violence and bared skin to earn a R rating. (In fact, director Harmony Korine has come under fire for casting his nearly-teenage stars in intensely sexualized scenes.)

But edginess alone by no means guarantees a successful clothing line. Think the Spring Breakers x Opening Ceremony collab will be worth perusing? Read more at WWD.com and head to the store on March 22 when the collection debuts.
