Did 'The Onion' Predict CNN's Steubenville Rape Trial Coverage? (VIDEO)

Did 'The Onion' Predict This Controversy?

Satire kings The Onion might have parodied CNN's coverage of the Steubenville rape trial two years before the serious and quite real events occurred.

A segment from The Onion's short-lived Comedy Central series "Sportsdome" featuring the satirical headline, "Athlete Overcomes Rape," has resurfaced online after CNN's coverage of the trial was criticized for focusing on how the outcome will affect the teen athlete attackers rather than the victim.

Former "Sportsdome" staff writer Krister Johnson posted the segment to YouTube and noted in the description: "It could have been produced by the CNN team covering the Steubenville rape verdict."
