Whale watching in Southern California can be hit or miss. It seems that whales have a mind of their own and appear when they want to.
But appear they did last Sunday, for one lucky whale-watching tour group. A couple of adult gray whales, estimated to be about 45 to 50 feet long, came right up to a 15-foot fishing boat, even rubbing against the engine. The thrilled tourists, who recorded the magical encounter (video above), said the whales displayed friendly behavior throughout the day.
