Sarah Jessica Parker Style Evolution: SJP Will Always Be Carrie Bradshaw To Us (PHOTOS)

Who Knew She'd Become Such A Style Icon?

It's hard to quantify our love for Sarah Jessica Parker. We cut our teeth in New York City as "Sex and the City" became a part of the national zeitgeist, and to say that SJP was our style icon is an understatement.

But it wasn't just "Sex and the City" and the magical styling provided by legendary costume designer Patricia Field that honed Parker's fashion sensibilities. SJP had style chops long before HBO's hit show. To wit, she had no problem showing up to a Hollywood premiere wearing a Jean Paul Gaultier-inspired bra top-and-pants outfit. Her style certainly received a boost once she became Carrie Bradshaw. Parker, married to Matthew Broderick since 1997, went from pleated tartan skirts to sequined minidresses and Manolo Blahniks.

We credit the mother of three with pushing us to expand our style boundaries. By her example, we learned to clash our patterns, splurge on a gorgeous handbag every now and then and most importantly, to wear heels with everything.

In honor of the fashion icon's 48th birthday on Monday (Mar. 25), we take a look back at some of her most fabulous looks. We salute you, SJP.
