When celebrities hit the red carpet, it's impossible to get a good reading on their personal style. With teams of people helping each star, you can't be sure how involved the individual was in the process. But when you catch a celeb off-duty, you can really tell what their fashion sensibilities are. Did they run errands in a sweatsuit and flip-flops? Or did they bring it up a notch in a printed dress and brightly-colored sunnies?

There are a few celebs who consistently knock it out of the park when it comes to what they wear on their down time. Ashley Olsen is always chic in a perfectly tailored minimalist look, while Miranda Kerr shows off her long legs in flirty skirts and killer heels. But for every A-lister who gets it right, there are a slew of stars who miss the mark. Whether it's Miley Cyrus in thigh-high boots and crop tops or Britney Spears in mock turtlenecks and flesh colored shorts, the worst-dressed list is never too sparse.
