Never doubt the power of Chespirito. Mexico’s beloved Roberto Bolaños is now a Twitter phenom, with five million followers in less than a year.

Now 84-years-old, Bolaños is hardly your typical social media maven. Nevertheless, he has a devoted fanbase and regularly sends out his appreciation via Tweet. He also posts funny pictures and classic quotes from his TV show.

Speaking to his fans, Roberto seemed genuinely thrilled to reach this latest milestone.

“Last February, I wrote that I could never reach 2 million followers. Now I’m at 5 million. I don’t know what to say. Only thanks!”

And for the record, Bolaños’ Chespirito isn’t just a hit in the Twitterverse. He’s also the star of one of Mexico’s most popular video games.
