These days, our knowledge of celebrities too often originates with paparazzi images and snarky quotes by anonymous "insiders." After a while, it's easy to forget that stars are real people. That's why HuffPost Celebrity decided to launch its all-new #nofilter quick-fire question-and-answer series. Because how well do you know someone until they've shared their guiltiest pleasures?
Kit Harington may not be recognized by all, but one thing's for sure -- he's recognized by the millions of viewers who tune into "Game of Thrones" season after season. And speaking of the hit HBO show, Season 3 premieres on Sunday, March 31, and Harington himself stopped by HuffPost Live to discuss what sort of drama his character Jon Snow will be facing this year. And thankfully, HuffPost Celebrity was able to squeeze in a few #nofilter questions with the 26-year-old British star to see what he likes to do (aside from starring on one of the best shows on TV).
What shows are always on your DVR?
"Breaking Bad," "Breaking Bad." I'm a huge "Breaking Bad" fan. I love that show. I love Bryan Cranston, I think he's an incredible actor. I've loved him since he was on "Malcolm in the Middle" years ago. I'm not a huge TV watcher ... I read.
You're here to promote season 3 of "Game of Thrones!"
I'm doing a bad job aren't I? [he smirks] Umm ... "Game of Thrones."
What's on your nightstand?
What's on my nightstand ...
What books are on your nightstand?
There's a writer called William Boyd, so I'm reading a lot of William Boyd. I tend to pick an author and try and read everything they've done and then move on. If you want a good book, William Boyd writes a very good novel. I like poetry. I'm big into my poetry.
If failure weren't an option, what would you do aside from acting?
I would like to be a poet. If failure weren't an option, I'd be a poet. That is what I'd do, I'd be a writer. It's still something I have in my mind.
Do you write poetry?
I do, yeah.
What do you write about?
It's terrible poetry. I would never ever ever read it to anybody. But I do write, I do write poems.
And HuffPost Live's Abby Huntsman had a few more personal questions for the "Game of Thrones" hunk.
You have become kind of HBO's heartthrob. Would you say you're that way in real life?
No. No. No. I think the day I start seeing myself as a heartthrob is the day I have to take a really good look in the mirror.
When you look 10 years down the road from now, where do you hope to be, where do you see yourself?
I want to be doing more theater. And I want to be balancing that alongside poetry writing and film roles. I want to be acting, but I want to be doing more than just acting.
