'Before Midnight' Trailer: Ethan Hawke & Julie Delpy, After Dark

9 Years In The Making ...

The most highly anticipated threequel of the summer? For many film aficionados it's "Before Midnight," the third installment in Richard Linklater's talky "Before" franchise. (Sorry, "Iron Man 3.")

The film, co-written by Linklater and stars Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, debuted to rave reviews at the Sundance Film Festival in January and its first trailer offers a good indication why.

Set nine years after the events of "Before Sunset" ... well, even giving a plot description would spoil some of the film's charms (full disclosure: this writer has seen "Before Midnight" and loved it). Suffice it to say, Hawke and Delpy reprise their roles, respectively, as Jesse (novelist and naval-gazer) and Celine (restless deep thinker), and "Before Midnight" includes many conversations about the nature of love and relationships. (For more, just watch the trailer above; it gives away some basic plot machinations, mostly from the first act.)

Sony Classics -- the studio behind the last couple of Woody Allen films; hence, this Allen-y teaser -- is set to release "Before Midnight" on May 24. The film will also screen at the Tribeca Film Festival in April. Watch the "Before Midnight" trailer above.
