Elle Macpherson Style Evolution: How She Got The Nickname 'The Body' (PHOTOS)

How This Model Got The Nickname 'The Body'

Standing at a statuesque 6 feet tall, Elle Macpherson was practically destined to become a model. Gaining the nickname "The Body" only a few years into her career, Macpherson has graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue a record five times. As one of the few models who could do high-fashion and commercial work, it was her versatility that brought her international success.

Although the Aussie spent years strutting down the catwalk, she also dabbled in acting, reality television and design. (Macpherson has her own line of intimates). But her talents don't stop there -- she is also one of the best-dressed stars and can be counted on to look sexy and sophisticated both on and off the red carpet. Maybe it has something to do with her motto, "It's not vanity to feel you have a right to be beautiful."

In celebration of Elle Macpherson's 49th birthday (on Mar.29), we are taking a look back at her style transformation over the years. From '90s minimalism to early aughts glamour, she can do no wrong.
