Jakub Kindl Own Goal: Red Wings Defenseman Puts Puck In His Own Net Against Blackhawks (VIDEO)

WATCH: Red Wings Suffer Own Goal During Blowout

It was just one of those days for Jimmy Howard and the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday. The 29-year-old netminder was in the crease for the Red Wings' rivalry matchup against the Blackhawks when both Jeremy Morin and Brandon Saad slipped one past him just four minutes into the game. Less than a minute later, Chicago lit the lamp again thanks to a little help from someone completely unexpected -- Howard's own teammate.

Defenseman Jakub Kindl accidentally scored on Howard when he chipped a puck into his net after intercepting a pass in the slot. Kindl's attempt to throw the puck behind the net was foiled by a timely slash from Chicago winger Jimmy Hayes, which shifted Kindl's release and sent it into the twine.

Howard was eventually pulled early in the second period, and the Red Wings suffered a 7-1 blowout on home ice. They bounces back on Monday, beating Colorado 3-2.
