A drunken man in Linfen, northern China, dangled for 15 minutes from high-voltage wires, seemingly oblivious of the danger, as onlookers gathered to watch.
Video of the incident shows the man ultimately slipping and getting caught in the lower cables, prompting the observers to gasp. He then plummets to the inflatable mat that had been set up as word got out of his precarious presence, according to reports from Reuters and the Guardian.
The man, who said he drank too much because of a bad mood, was unhurt. Officials had cut off the electricity.
Substance abuse and electricity formed a fatal combination in January for a Chilean man said to be high on drugs. He climbed a power grid tower and was electrocuted.
