Emilia Clarke Talks The Challenges Of Acting With CGI Dragons On 'Game Of Thrones' (VIDEO)

Emilia Clarke On 'Game Of Thrones' CGI Dragons

Emilia Clarke looks almost nothing like her "Game of Thrones" character, Daenerys Targaryen, without that signature blonde wig, but she told "Late Night" that she's not allowed to wear it in public. The wig probably helps her get into the mind of that character, which is good because she often has to act with dragons that aren't actually there.

She needs to be in the right head space to interact with dragons that will be added via CGI later. It's a challenge many science fiction and fantasy actors face, and one that isn't getting easier for Clarke, even in this third season.

She told Jimmy Fallon that while watching the premiere back this past Sunday, she was critiquing her own performance, finding the places where she could have done better.

"When you’re filming it, you kind of feel like an idiot," she said. But it all comes together beautifully, thanks to the artists who add those effects. Kimmel gave them a kudos for their hard work.

Clarke is hard at work as well. She's out promoting the new season of "Game of Thrones, which premiered with record ratings of nearly 4.4 million viewers, while also starring on Broadway in "Breakfast at Tiffany's."

Watch Emilia Clarke as the Khaleesi on "Game of Thrones," Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO. "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" airs every weeknight at 12:37 a.m. ET on NBC.
