Erica Braswell is facing felony charges for leading San Diego police on a pursuit early Wednesday morning while her children were in the backseat of a stolen minivan, KNSD-TV reported.

The chase began shortly after midnight. Officers said they tried to pull over the stolen blue Dodge van, only to have Braswell speed away, KGTV-TV reported.

The suspect ended up driving off the road and up a hillside where the van slid several hundred feet before coming to a stop at the top of the hill, Fox5SanDiego.com reported.

Police say Braswell then attempted to escape, leaving her kids crying in the van.

The kids, ages 5 and 6, were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being transferred to a childcare facility.

Braswell was also taken to a hospital to be treated before being booked into Las Colinas Jail for several charges including driving under the influence and child endangerment, UT San Diego reported.

She is being held on $105,000 bail.
