Getting the chance to cross over from Spanish soaps to American primetime is the stuff Latin stars only dream about. And Mexican actress Lucero had that very opportunity, but flatly turned it down because of family commitments.

It seems the hit novela "Mujeres Asesinas" is in the process of being “re-imagined” for ABC. And the network execs were keen on hiring original star Lucero for the project.

But the "La Voz Mexico" host gave them an official “No,” saying that she didn’t want to be away from her children.

“It was a fantastic opportunity and hard to turn down,” she told People en Español. “But the contract required too much time away from my children and from my country.”

But the good news is, Lucero said she was still open to other American projects. So perhaps a successful crossover is still not completely out of the question.
