Bill O'Reilly Says He Keeps 'Lunacy In Check' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Bill O'Reilly Is So Modest, We Just Can't Handle It

We're not quite sure why, but Bill O'Reilly took a moment on his Wednesday show to describe the many ways he and his Fox News program keep "lunacy in check."

It's true that O'Reilly typically covers stories of social significance to him -- like blasting elementary schools for calling the Easter Bunny the "Spring Bunny," or government offices for calling a Christmas tree a "Holiday tree." He's taken measured approaches to these topics, like the time he screamed at an atheist leader and called him a fascist for not believing in public displays of religious holidays.

In his monologue, O'Reilly highlighted the many stories he's reported on and the changes that came about as a result of his show's coverage. He said he got ex-marine Jon Hammar out of a Mexican prison, he put the Easter Bunny back in at least one Alabama school, and had a student reinstated who was suspended for not "stomping on the word Jesus."

"In a strange twist of history, it seems like this program 'The Factor' is in charge of stopping the madness," he said. "When strange occurrences break out, no longer do you call the Ghostbusters, you call 'The Factor.'"

In real life, of course, no one has ever called the Ghostbusters, because they are fictional.
