Chris Bosh Robbed During Birthday Party; $340,000 In Jewelry And Accessories Stolen: Police (VIDEO)

NBA Star Robbed During His Own Birthday Party

Miami Beach Police say Chris Bosh's home was robbed of $340,000 in watches, rings, and purses Wednesday night.

Adding insult to injury, it was while the Miami Heat star was out celebrating his 29th birthday with an elephant cake and a real live camel that his home on North Bay Road was burgled.

"We got a call at 12:30 last night, Mr. Bosh called us when he arrived home," Miami Beach Police spokesman Sgt. Robert Hernandez told The Huffington Post. "His jewelry and closet had been ransacked.

Hernandez said circumstances surrounding the burglary were unusual: "There were two housekeepers on the scene that were babysitting the Bosh's children and they didn't hear anything."

The burglar also carefully hand-picked what he took, Hernandez said, leaving Bosh's NBA Championship ring and at least one other piece of identifiable, easily traceable jewelry before fleeing the scene. Investigators checked the property but found no sign of forced entry.

"Either they were let in, or they were in before the housekeepers got there," Hernandez said. "We're thinking that this is a total inside job. According to Mr. Bosh and Mrs. Bosh the [stolen] items were there when they left, so the window of opportunity is between 6 p.m. and midnight."

Detectives are still interviewing the housekeepers and looking into whether workers had recently been in the 12,000 square foot waterfront home, which
Bosh purchased for $12.5 million in September 2010:
