Do-Division Street Fest Reveals Lineup, New Fashion Effort

With Pitchfork and Lollapalooza's lineups set, it's go time for the city's summer neighborhood festivals.

Wicker Park's Do-Division Street Fest — reliably one of the better-programmed gatherings of the summer — rolled out the first phase of its musical lineup and planned amusements Thursday, with featured acts that include Ariel Pink, JEFF The Brotherhood and Tilly and the Wall.

(See the first wave of bands announced for Do-Division below.)

Returning for a seventh year, the festival has grown in size and duration, now covering three days, and the entire stretch of Division Street from Ashland Avenue to Leavitt Street; organizers anticipate some 75,000 people will pack the street this year.

New this year is the "Do-Fashion" area promoting the district's retail offerings, while fest organizers say familiar staples like a sidewalk sale and food from neighborhood vendors will round out the weekend activities.

With Wicker Park continuing its transformation from studio art spaces to sidewalks full of strollers, the festival has grown more family-friendly in stride.

Added to the lineup of indie-leaning bands and live DJs, Do-Division is bringing back is Museum of Science and Industry partnership and Shedd Aquarium partnerships: the former focusing on the MSI's Animals Inside/Out exhibit with the latter emphasizing the Shedd's aquatic life (standbys like bounce houses, face painting and pony rides will make a comeback as well).

Admission to the fest is a $5 donation, with proceeds going to three Wicker Park elementary schools— LaSalle II, Pritzker, and Sabin — as well as the West Town Chicago Chamber of Commerce and Division Street Committee.

Do-Division is May 31-June 2 on Division between Ashland and Leavitt, $5 requested donation.
