Matt Lauer's Plans For A Horse Farm Are Reined In

It's tough to be Matt Lauer these days. First there was that whole Ann Curry snafu, and now his plans for a horse farm in Southampton are being squashed. The town issued a stop-work order on the renovations that the "Today" host was doing on his 40-acre farm.

Lauer and his wife Annette bought the land for $3.5MM in early 2012. Apparently the problems arose when the existing structure was torn down, exposing rot. The New York Post reports that, "Lauer can’t put a home on the property but he can build structures necessary for agricultural-related business, which in his case is an uber-luxurious horse farm."

The plans for the property include a 36-stall barn and a man-made pond. The neighbors aren't too happy about the enormous undertaking, calling them "too ambitious."

Not to worry, the Lauer family isn't homeless. Thankfully, Lauer owns a $15MM home down the road. Phew.
